Which locations are best?
Outdoor shots are always my favorite because they provide for lots of natural light and simple backgrounds (nature rarely looks dated). I love outdoor shots so much that I'd rather re-schedule than re-locate. Some fun ideas for outdoor photos:
- your favorite park or playground
- your back yard
- your front porch
- a public hiking trail
- a public beach
Indoors works too. Home is always a great option. Kids feel comfortable at home and you can play around with props and locations. Indoor shots work well when there is plenty of natural light, so we'll talk about what times are best based on the position of the sun. Some fun ideas for indoor photos:
- home (on the couch, in a favorite bedroom or with a favorite toy, in front of the family fireplace, etc.)
- at a favorite museum
- in a family friendly restaurant
What should we wear?
This one is completely up to you, your personality and the look you're going for. I can tell you that looking like yourself is so much better than trying to look like anything or anyone else. It's all about capturing who you are at this moment, and if you're comfortable it will show.
